ESTABLECER EN EL ESTUDIANTE EL APRENDIZAJE DEL TEMA EN RELACIÓN CON EL FIN DE BRINDARLE LAS HERRAMIENTAS NECESARIAS QUE LE PERMITAN COMUNICARSE POR MEDIO DEL USO DE LA LENGUA EXTRANJERA EN LAS DIFERENTES FORMAS QUE A LO LARGO DEL DESARROLLO DE LAS GUÍAS SE APLICAN.
3. DESARROLLO COGNITIVO INSTRUCCIONAL
USED TO
El verbo “USE” traduce a nuestro español los verbos “usar” o “utilizar”.
En esta guía, haremos uso del verbo USE en pasado (USED) junto con la preposición TO.
Usamos el “used to” para indicar algo que anteriormente ocurría o sucedía en el pasado. También, lo utilizamos para expresar situaciones que antes ocurrían pero que ya no lo son.
Su estructura es:
Affirmative
Por ejemplo:
Christopher used to train volleyball every Sunday.
Lebron brothers used to dance in their Salsa shows.
My father and I used to go fishing on weekends.
Las oraciones no siempre son sencillas como los ejemplos anteriores, por el contrario, suelen ser extensas y compuestas pues conllevan una parte que afirma lo que en el presente se realiza.
Por ejemplo:
Christopher used to train volleyball every Sunday but not anymore.
Lebron brothers used to dance in their Salsa shows when they were young.
My father and I used to go fishing on weekends but the club closed a few years ago.
También hacemos uso del USED TO es forma negative, es decir para expresar situaciones que anteriormente no ocurrían pero que en el presente sí.
Su estructura es:

En este tipo de oraciones negativas, no hacemos uso del USED TO como lo hacemos en la forma afirmativa puesto que al hacer uso del didn’t, ya estamos haciendo uso del tiempo pasado.
Por ejemplo:
You didn’t use to like the mushrooms in the pizza, but now you do.
In the restaurants, the food didn’t use to be so expensive.
My family didn’t use to travel so frequently on holidays as now we do.
